Information on www.stemcrew.co.uk (the "Website") is provided to you by 1851 Trust, a charitable incorporated organisation, Registered Charity No.  1158670, having its registered office at 1851 Trust, The Camber, East Street, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO1 2JJ ("1851 Trust").

The Website is managed for 1851 Trust by EdComs Limited registered in England and Wales, No 02983471, registered office Studio 1.19 Canterbury Court, 1-3 Brixton Road, London SW9 6DE United Kingdom ("EdComs").

This Terms and Conditions and Privacy FAQs ("the Policy") is governed by the laws of England and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales over any claim or matter arising under or in connection with it.

Why do I need to register to use the Website?

1851 Trust has established this Website to provide you with teaching and other educational resources. In order to access the Website, you will be required to register and provide us with personally identifiable information including but not limited to your name, email address and the school or educational facility that you work for (together "Personal Information"). You are asked to register for verification purposes and so that 1851 Trust can monitor which resources you open to assist us in our development of new resources.

Use of the Website is subject to the terms and conditions set out in this Policy, and all applicable laws, and by accessing and registering to use the Website, you agree to comply with the provisions of the same.

How will my Personal Information be used?

We will use your Personal Information, which you choose to provide to 1851 Trust on registration, only for the purpose for which it is provided. All Personal Information provided on registration will be collected, processed and stored on our behalf by EdComs for the purposes of verification and so that 1851 Trust and EdComs can monitor which resources you open to assist us in our development of new resources. 1851 Trust shall not sell or otherwise transfer your Personal Information to any other third parties.

When you register with BT STEM Crew, you are offered the facility to use an address look-up service called SPIRIT, provided to us by a third party. This is a UK-based database of schools supplied to us by The Education Company Ltd. We use this database to gather supplemental information, such as your school postcode. This allows us to simplify your registration process and subsequently to monitor which resources you open to assist us in our development of new resources.

What checks will be carried out on registration?

On registration, the information that you provide to us will be checked against a UK database of teachers and schools, managed by EdComs. This database will allow us to verify your school or educational facility, or update the system in the event that your school or educational facility is not contained on the database. This database is also used to simplify your registration process.

How do we protect your Personal Information?

We use appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorised access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorised modification or unlawful destruction or accidental loss of personal Information.

To maintain data accuracy and ensure the correct use of information, we have procedures in place to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. However, you acknowledge that you are aware of security and privacy limitations, including but not limited to: (1) the possible limitations or failures of security, privacy and authentication measures and features in this system; and (2) that data or information may be subject to third party eavesdropping, tampering, or alteration.

How do we keep your Personal Information up-to-date?

We are committed to ensuring that your personal Information is kept accurate and up-to-date. However, we can only make changes to your personal Information if you notify us. It is your responsibility to let us know if there are inaccuracies or changes to your personal Information. Please notify us at education@1851trust.org.uk if there are any changes to, or inaccuracies in, your personal Information providing us with sufficient information to enable us to identify you, so that any changes can be made.

Marketing communications

By registering to use the Website, you agree that 1851 Trust may send you marketing communications containing education information and updates, or invite you to participate in surveys relating to your use of the Website and education materials. If you no longer wish to receive these, please contact us at education@1851trust.org.uk to modify your preferences, or follow the unsubscribe instructions contained in each communication.

Use of IP addresses and cookies

By registering to use the Website, you agree that 1851 Trust may monitor details of your visits to the Website, including but not limited to: web server statistics, traffic data, location data and details of the web pages and resources that you access. We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, and to analyse aggregate information. This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not enable us to identify any individual.

For the same reason, we may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive. They help us to improve our site and to deliver a better and more personalised service by enabling us to estimate our audience size and usage pattern.

We use 3rd party cookies such as Google AdWords Remarketing to trigger adverts across the Internet. AdWords remarketing will display relevant ads tailored to you based on your visit to stemcrew.co.uk by placing a cookie on your machine. THIS COOKIE DOES NOT IN ANYWAY IDENTIFY YOU OR GIVE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER. The cookie is used to say “This person visited this page, so show them ads relating to that page.” Google AdWords Remarketing allows us to tailor our marketing to better suit your needs and only display ads that are relevant to you. 

You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you arrive on the site.

Your use of the Website indicates your acceptance of the latest version of the Policy on the Website.
